The Many Benefits of CBD

Updated: Feb 15, 2022

With so many new CBD products available these days, you may be asking yourself, What are the Benefits of CBD?

To begin with, cannabinoids already exist in your body. Scientists have identified what they call the endocannabinoid system (ECS) that modulates the activity of neurons. Cannabidiol (CBD) is a phytocannabinoid found naturally in the cannabis plant. Unlike THC, which is also found in cannabis, CBD is not psychoactive.

CBD can be extracted from the Cannabis plant as either an oil or a powder and added to a carrier oil and infused in foods or salves.

Within your nervous system, two endocannabinoids (2-AG and EAE) are produced in postsynaptic neurons (downstream) and released into the synapse. They bind to CB1 and CB2 receptors on the presynaptic neuron (upstream) and act to inhibit the release of certain neurotransmitters. CB1 receptors are found throughout the brain, spinal cord, and other tissues. CB2 receptors are as well, but more of them are found in immune system tissue.

When CBD bonds to these receptors in the brain it is believed to have many beneficial effects. It has shown to assist with anxiety and PTSD by aiding in the brain's ability to produce serotonin. It is also believed to help with pain, inflammation, arthritis and even spinal cord injury.

We are now offering a new line of CBD products created by Wildwood herbal. We have tinctures, ginger candies, milk and dark chocolate and honey sticks for you to try. They are listed under New arrivals on our website here:

While CBD has so many benefits, some do not feel comfortable using parts of the cannabis plant for relief. Luckily nature has also given us Copaiba. Copaiba balsam is a sap-like substance that's collected from the trunk of trees that belong to the genus Copaifera. The trees grow in tropical areas in South America. It is considered one of the most anti-inflammatory substances on earth. It reacts directly with your brain’s existing endocannabinoid receptors while CBD bonds indirectly which means Copaiba is believed by some scientists to have a stronger and more potent effect. It can be used internally for things like pain, inflammation, high blood pressure and liver toxicity, diffused in the air for anxiety and sleep issues and topically for skin blemishes, eczema and even fungal infections. It is an all around beneficial oil to keep in one’s home.

Our Pain Away blend uses clove, copaiba, tangerine, black pepper and peppermint to ease tension in muscles as well as having a warm positive effect on emotions.

If you would like to order the Copaiba we use in our Pain Away blend on its own, here is a direct link to order it from Doterra:
